Money Talks: a focus on finance
for neurodivergent founders
Let’s talk about money.
Properly, shall we?
Money Talks is a free, in-person event for neurodivergent founders in the North East.
Built by us, for us, in a room full of people who actually get it.
11 May 2026, 10am to noon. NatWest Accelerator, Lumen, Newcastle.
How much, literally, do you love your business?
“Every financial decision feels like it needs a 40-minute warm-up.”
We’re here to talk about what that actually means, what actually helps, and what we wish someone had told us sooner.
Money Talks is a free, in-person event on 11 May 2026 at NatWest Accelerator, Lumen, Newcastle. We’re bringing together neurodivergent business owners in the North East to share real experiences of money, funding, and business finance, because your voice matters and the people designing business support need to hear it.
Your brain, your money, your business
The three of them are more interconnected than anyone ever told you.
Money Talks is a chance to explore what’s really going on when you’re running a business with a neurodivergent brain. The pricing wobbles. The invoicing avoidance. The funding forms that feel like trick questions. All of it.
Is finance, knowing your finance, talking confidently about it, and managing your emotions around it a barrier to you feeling more confident in your business? Even to growing it?
Most business advice was written for a brain that works differently. Most funding processes are the same. And with funding, we don’t even know if we’d be welcome showing up exactly as we are. That’s the conversation we’re having.
We’re doing it for us all…
The North East Combined Authority want to do a better job of supporting neurodivergent founders, practically and financially. What comes out of the room will shape what Business Unmasked delivers, and what the Combined Authority funds. Your voice is the thing that makes it real
What happens on the day?
A warm, ADHD-friendly morning built around your voice, and your business.
Then, small group conversations where you can actually talk.
Finally, a panel of neurodivergent business owners sharing what they’ve learned about money and support the hard way.
We want a proper conversation about what ND-friendly business support could look like, and we’re bringing people who are in a position to make it happen. ADHD-friendly from the ground up. Short sessions, varied formats, tea and snacks on tap.
Fidget, stand, move around, whatever you need.
Who should come along?
Neurodivergent founders and self-employed folks in the North East.
You don’t need a formal diagnosis. You just need to identify as neurodivergent.
Places are limited to 50 to keep the room safe and the conversation real. Everyone there is, or plans to be, a founder…. no secret accountants selling their wares!
Can’t make it?
Still want to get your voice heard?
We get it. Life happens!
If you’re a neurodivergent founder and you can’t be there on 11 May, you can still contribute your experiences.
Share your experiences here, so your voice is part of the research, even if you can’t be in the room.
Are you a service provider or enterprise agency?
Help us make this a space people can really open up!
If you work in business support, enterprise, or policy and you’d like to receive the research findings when they’re published, sign up here and we’ll keep you in the loop.
