What Is Access to Work?
Government funding to help you succeed at work.
Access to Work (AtW) is a government scheme that funds support for disabled and neurodivergent people in employment or self-employment.
It can pay for coaching and support worker time to help you work more effectively and sustainably.
For self-employed founders, that might include ADHD coaching, accountability sessions, business mentoring, or help managing energy and executive function challenges.
If you already have an award, or you’re thinking about applying, we can help you make the most of it.
Using Access to Work with Business Unmasked
Everything we offer fits the AtW framework.
Both versions of our programme are Access to Work–friendly.
We provide clear monthly invoices, a detailed breakdown of sessions, and all supporting information assessors usually ask for.
If you’re approved for regular support and/or ADHD coaching hours, your Business Unmasked sessions can be delivered under that funding.
We’ll work with you to plan a schedule that matches your award and meets the reporting requirements.

Applying for Access to Work

You can apply for Access to Work online at gov.uk or by phone.
You’ll need to describe how your condition affects your ability to work and what kind of support would help you stay self-employed sustainably.
If you’re unsure what to write, we can share examples of language that has worked for previous clients.
You don’t need a formal diagnosis to apply — you only need to explain what’s challenging for you and how support would make a difference.

Can I use Access to Work if I’m self-employed?
Yes. The scheme supports both employed and self-employed people, including those running small businesses or sole trades.
Do I need to have been trading for a long time?
No. Many of our participants are in their first year of self-employment or still setting up.
What if my award hasn’t been finalised yet?
You can join the waitlist while your application is being processed, and we’ll help you start once funding is confirmed.
Do you help with renewals or extensions?
Yes. We can provide updated documentation for your assessor when you’re ready to renew your award.
